The Olympic spirit in our innovations

Like the athletes at this year's Olympic Games in Paris, our raw materials have won a number of awards in recent years. It's time to take a look back at our winners.

2021

BergaMuls ET1 was launched in 2021 and won two first prizes: the BSB Innovation Award Environment and the Innovation Award Natural Products.  And rightly so, because BergaMuls ET1 is the first synergistic blend of soluble and insoluble dietary fibers from recycled food. It enables the production of stable Pickering emulsions, which are known to be particularly mild and skin friendly.  

2022

BergaCare FG M12 combines functionality and care in a natural, volatile alternative to silicone oils and offers an excellent skin feel. Kalahari melon seed oil is very rich in essential fatty acids and contains other natural antioxidants that nourish and soften the skin. For this reason, BergaCare FGM12 was awarded second place in the natural category of the BSB Innovation Award.

BergaCare SmartLipids Bakuchiol was awarded 3rd place in the Cosmetics category. BergaCare SmartLipids Bakuchiol is a water-dispersible suspension of encapsulated bakuchiol. Bakuchiol is known as a natural alternative to retinol that reduces fine lines and wrinkles, increases skin elasticity and firmness, prevents lipid peroxidation, combats oxidative stress, reduces dark spots and hyperpigmentation, and improves skin radiance.

2023

In 2023, we launched our innovative BergaCare AquaLipids, which offer a simplified solution for integrating high-quality active oils into various cosmetic formulations and concepts easily and without the use of solubilizers or other auxiliaries.  For its innovative approach and versatility, BergaCare AquaLipids won two awards at the BSB Innovation Awards: 1st place in the Cosmetics category and 2nd place in the Natural Products category.

2024

BergaMuls ET2 and BergaCare FG Gel also received awards this year. BergaMuls ET 2 is the second generation of sustainable and trendy fiber blends with synergetic effects. Used as an O/W emulsifier, it creates systems ranging from light cream gels with a low oil phase to classic cream textures in combination with other stabilizers. It therefore won 2nd place in the Natural Products category.

BergaCare FG Gel also took 2nd place in the Cosmetics category. BergaCare FG Gel is a natural oil thickener for transparent and viscous oil gels, gel creams and solid jelly textures. Thanks to its good compatibility with different types of oils and its natural thixotropic behavior, it also enables unusual products with honey-like or playfully bouncy textures.

These awards reflect our commitment to innovation and our ability to develop high-performance, sustainable solutions that meet the trends of the cosmetics industry. Our goal is to stay one “jump” ahead in the years to come.

BergaMuls ET 1

BergaMuls ET 1 is the first synergistic blend of soluble and insoluble fibers to create stable pickering emulsions allowing for „emulsifier-free“ product claims, which are known to be especially mild and friendly to the skin. Additional stabilization is provided by the hydrocollodial network in the external o/w emulsion phase. The fiber blend creates light and pleasant lotion-like textures when used as emulsifier. When used as thickening agent, it is suitable to formulate oil-free serum concepts or facial masks. Special sensories can be achieved when used as filler.

BergaCare SmartLipids Bakuchiol

SmartLipids are the latest generation of nano lipid carriers developed to improve dermal and cosmetic formulations. Modern delivery systems are intended to overcome common issues when working with lipo-soluble active ingredients such as stable incorporation, good bioavailability, high active loading, controlled release and supporting the natural skin barrier. With BergaCare SmartLipids Bakuchiol we offer a water-dispersible suspension of encapsulated Bakuchiol. Bakuchiol is known to be a natural alternative to retinol which reduces fine lines and wrinkles, boosts skin elasticity and firmness, prevents lipid peroxidation, fights oxidative stress, reduces dark spots and hyperpigmentation, and improves skin radiance. It can be formulated in a variety of leave-on products like lotions, creams or serums with in-vivo proven efficacy.

BergaCare FG Gel

BergaCare FG Gel is a natural oil thickener for transparent and viscous oil gels, gel-creams and solid jelly textures. The ingredient is cold processable and can be used in various leave-on and rinse-off formulations for skin or hair care concepts. Solid particles like pigments or mineral UV filters can easily be suspended and give stable results. Due to its good compatibilities with various oil types and its natural thixotropic behavior, it also allows for fancy products with honey-like or playful bouncing texture.

BergaCare FG M12

BergaCare FG M12 combines functionality and care to offer a natural and volatile alternative to silicone oils while providing an outstanding skin feel. The Kalahari melon seed oil is very rich in essential fatty acids, and contains further natural antioxidants which leave the skin well conditioned and supple. The unique combination of the dry vegatable oil, alkane and ester oils makes BergaCare FG M12 the ideal choice for skin care applications.

BergaCare AquaLipids Bisabolol AR

BergaCare AquaLipids are the latest solution to easily incorporate highly appreciated active oils into various cosmetic formulations and concepts without the need of using solubilizers or any other auxiliary substances. Actives oils are usually rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and therefore support the cell-renewal or fight inflammtion. However, making them easily available in formulations requires several steps in the manufacturing and the use of solubilizers may lead to foaming or tackiness after application. The new add-in approach can facilitate the incorporation of active oils like the BergaCare AquaLipids Bisabolol AR containing alpha-bisabolol and rice bran oil. Bisabolol is known from chamomile for its anti-inflammatory effect and promotes the healing of skin. Rice bran oil and phytosterols from sunflower act additionally soothing, especially on barrier-damaged skin.

BergaCare AquaLipids Cassis BR

BergaCare AquaLipids are the latest solution to easily incorporate highly appreciated active oils into various cosmetic formulations and concepts without the need of using solubilizers or any other auxiliary substances. Actives oils are usually rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and therefore support the cell-renewal or fight inflammtion. However, making them easily available in formulations requires several steps in the manufacturing and the use of solubilizers may lead to foaming or tackiness after application. The new add-in approach can facilitate the incorporation of active oils like the BergaCare AquaLipids Cassis BR containing blackcurrant seed oil and rosehip seed oil. Both contain especially high concentrations of alpha- and gamma-linolenic acids as well as linoleic acid. They readily penetrate the skin to strengthen its protective barrier and rebalance sebum production making it the ideal combination for oily skin.

BergaCare AquaLipids Melon BK

BergaCare AquaLipids are the latest solution to easily incorporate highly appreciated active oils into various cosmetic formulations and concepts without the need of using solubilizers or any other auxiliary substances. Actives oils are usually rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and therefore support the cell-renewal or fight inflammtion. However, making them easily available in formulations requires several steps in the manufacturing and the use of solubilizers may lead to foaming or tackiness after application. The new add-in approach can facilitate the incorporation of active oils like the BergaCare AquaLipids Melon BK containing kalahari melon seed oil and bulbine frutescens leaf juice. While kalahari melon seed oil contains a high proportion of linoleic acid, which helps the skin maintain its hydration, bulbine frutescens leaf juice boosts collagen synthesis and has wound healing properties. Both ingredients are derived from very robust plants that can be found in the deserts of Southern Africa.

BergaCare AquaLipids Punica PS

BergaCare AquaLipids are the latest solution to easily incorporate highly appreciated active oils into various cosmetic formulations and concepts without the need of using solubilizers or any other auxiliary substances. Actives oils are usually rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and therefore support the cell-renewal or fight inflammtion. However, making them easily available in formulations requires several steps in the manufacturing and the use of solubilizers may lead to foaming or tackiness after application. The new add-in approach can facilitate the incorporation of active oils like the BergaCare AquaLipids Punica PS containing pomegranate and sea buckthorn seed oil. Pomegranate seed oil contains the highly beneficial punicic acid, which has a powerful antioxidant effect and thus helps counteract skin ageing in mature skin. It also contains numerous skin regenerating substances such as phytosterols, polyphenols and flavonoids. Sea buckthorn oil is rich in palmitoleic acid that acts regenerative in aged skin.

BergaMuls ET 2 is the second generation of sustainable and trending fiber blends with synergistic effects. When used as o/w emulsifier, it creates systems ranging from light cream-gels with smaller oil phase to classic cream textures when combined with further stabilizing agents.
