Stearyl alcohol, also known as octadecanol, is a long chain saturated fatty alcohol. It appears as white pastilles or flakes. The application of stearyl alcohol is manifold. It finds use among others in production of lubricants or as plasticizer in plastics or fabrics and stearyl alcohol is also used in the production of surfactants.
